A mix of period charm and modern amenities await you for your stay at The Botanist's Retreat (formerly named Harper's Cottage) Castlemaine. Expect a green, serene base for your discovery and adventures, with a well equipped kitchen, big open dining and comfortably equipped lounge with floorboards and a big, modern bathroom with shower and free standing tub. 

Central heating and air conditioning to keep you comfortable all year round. Bonus bar cart with cocktail shaker & glasses for those who enjoy whipping up a cocktail! 

Every booking receives a bottle of local wine and arrival sweet treat, plus coffee, tea and milk provided. We also leave a pantry stocked with cooking essentials & in the bathroom you'll also find toiletry essentials. 

The house sleeps 6 people in 3 queen beds. (If you have seven guests and need an additional bed, we have a day bed we can convert into a comfortable single bed for a small additional charge.)

Harper's Cottage Malmsbury

Escape the city for some peace and nature. Enjoy the Spring daffodils and wattle, as you explore the gardens and this fabulous food and wine region! In the cooler months, stay toasty, with heating throughout the cottage + wood burning fire for the cool nights (+ an outdoor wood fire for a warmer evening). 

Escape Melbourne to visit attractions like the many wineries, breweries and distilleries in the Macedon Ranges, visiting a local weekend farmers markets and then cook up a storm in the huge new oven, indulge in shopping in local boutiques in Kyneton or Hepburn Springs or rug up for many beautiful Spring walks. 

Or just stay in to read, play board games, watch movies with friends and let the native gardens around the cottage help you relax and revive.
